This shelduck is dedicated to Pierre Belon (1517-1564), a great French zoologist of the Renaissance.
It is also a refuge for the common shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) and the northern shoveler (Anas clypeata).
The diet of the Shelduck is mainly composed of hydrobia but this bird can also eat other prey such as crustaceans.
The site also hosts more than 1% of the Common Shelduck's biogeographic population, showing the importance of saline conditions for some wintering species.
Photos of a stay around Kerlouan–1: a calvary in the fog, a shelduck and a little egret, traces on the sand and a sunset over the Quillimadec river.
A member of the stork family, and our guide's favourite bird.
Netta rufina and Tadorna tadorna are two species no longer common on Corsica but that still find good conditions for reproduction here.
