The new particle, a class of “tetraquark,” is made of a bottom quark, a strange quark, an up quark and a down quark.

Both the strange and bottom quark carry a negative electric charge.

The up quark goes exclusively into the down quark, the charm quark exclusively into the strange quark.

They are the Baryons containing at least one strange quark.

Hyperons are baryons containing at least one s quark.

a strange quark as the heavy brothers of the upper and down quark.

For example, a strange baryon consists of three quarks where at least one of these quarks must be strange.

They are composed of three light quarks, at least one of which is a strange quark, which makes them strange baryons.

This allows the researchers to access information on the strange quark (positively charged kaon) or on the strange antiquark (negatively charged kaon).

Particle containing a strange quark have a strangeness of -1, the K0 meson contains an anti-strange quark so has a strangeness of 1.

Yet there are second and third ‘generations’ (read: copies) of each of these particles such as charm quarks, strange quarks, & muons.
