The London planes (Platanus acerifolia) were planted in 1789.
The London plane (Platanus ×acerifolia, Platanaceae family) is a less fertile species originated from a cross between American plane (Platanus occidentalis) and Oriental plane (Platanus orientalis).
An important cross-reactivity between the pollen of Platanus acerifolia (London plane tree), hazelnut and banana has been reported.
There are also on the island of Bercy beautiful plants, the oldest is a common plane which dates from 1860.
They are old of more than 400 years and would be single specimens of their botanical species (Platanus orientalis) in Europe where it was replaced by the common plane tree (Platanus occidentalis).
