Bill S-4, Federal Law-Civil Law Harmonization Act, No. 1
The Harmonization Act is not based on the concept of uniformity, but rather on co-existence.
Honourable senators, I urge you to vote in favour of Bill S-4 entitled: the Federal Law-Civil Law Harmonization Act No. 1.
This is the third harmonization bill to be tabled by the Government and it is part of the harmonization work that was begun by the Department of Justice Canada after the new Civil Code of Québec came into force in 1994.
