To date over 300 civilians have been tried in an expedited and unconstitutional manner by the military courts.

They contended that the National Security Court by which they had been convicted was a special political court which could not be considered an independent and impartial tribunal.

The scope, limits and application of this exceptional and subsidiary form of jurisdiction should be carefully considered and developments in its application should be closely followed.
