The creation of this organisation was a response to the setting up of a European Translation Platform by the European Commission DG XIII.
The work under the Digital Heritage and Cultural Content area of IST is co-ordinated by the European Commission Cultural Heritage Applications unit , DG XIII-E2.
Results were presented to the Commission of European Communities (GD XII und GD XXII) on September 30,1998
Directorate-General XIII of the European Commission (EC) is responsible for Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research.
Collaboration with the EICs and BC-NET of DG XXIII will be instrumental in addressing the SMEs.
It is coordinated by the European Commission''s Cultural Heritage Applications unit, DG Information Society, in Luxembourg.
