The Mexican red-headed or green-cheeked Amazon (A. viridigenalis) has been a great favorite for many years.
The same technique was employed in 1994, but only one egg from the clutch proved to be fertile and the chick from this was successfully reared by the Green-cheeked Amazons.
The Green-Cheeked Amazon Amazona viridigenalis was first described by Cassin in 1853.

For some reason the Green Cheek appears to be a little smaller than many of the other amazons, however, they measure about the same in length as the other mid-sized Amazons.
