Agraphia/dysgraphia: total loss or impairment of writing ability
The terms “alexia” and “agraphia” refer to the inabilities to read and to write, respectively.
Phonological agraphia: words can be written down correctly, but they cannot be pronounced
Clinical signs include impaired cognition; APHASIA; AGRAPHIA; weak and numbness in the face and arms, contralaterally or bilaterally depending on the infarction.
Aphasia disorders almost always involve other functions of the written language (dysgraphia) and reading (alexia).
