From the beginning, we decided to use the well known red wine grapes variety "agiorgitiko" as first material for alternative products.

Agiorgitiko is a captivating grape variety that caresses the senses with elegance, freshness and intensity of aromas and flavors.

Agiorgitiko means “the grape of Saint George”, possible an homage to the chapel of Saint George located in the Nemea region.

The Greek varieties initially cultivated by the winemakers were: Moschofilero, Roditis, Savvatiano, Xinomavro and Agiorgitiko and the International ones: Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

There, the countless hours of manual work on an extremely small scale became an invaluable study on the Agiorgitiko variety and the Nemea denomination.

The Union of Kiato S.M.P.C. presents for the first time its own wine in two varieties (Agiorgitiko and Roditi), which comes from the harvest of the local vineyards of its producers.

In a place, which has been characterized as Name of Origin for what is probably the most important Greek red variety AGIORGITIKO, Palivou Estate owns one of the two largest vineyards in the zone of Nemea.

After several studies on the potential of the noblest red variety, Agiorgitiko, and the unique microclimate of Nemea, the Boutari Company created a wine with a dynamic richness, which fully expresses the terroir of the region.

Of course, you may be hesitant to give a Falanghina, Agiorgitiko, Carricante, or Zweigelt a try… How do they grow in the winter, and what do they taste like come spring?

Truth or not, this is the stuff that mythology is made of, and this place, and the wines from this place, Nemea-Agiorgitiko, are as ancient as any in the world, perhaps, more so, and yes… this is indeed the land of Hercules.
