Mysterious ‘Glow Worm’ Discovered in the Peruvian Rainforest

Have you ever seen such a bright slug in your garden?

Looking through the LinkedIn feed I see a horrible thing.

Here a glow worm (Lampyris noctiluca) with and without artificial light.

The eyes are piercing, and flash forth the proudest glances.

The glow-worm, Arachnocampa lumino-sa, is unique in New Zealand.

The insect is not related to the European glowworm which is a beetle.

I heard a glow-worm, big as a house, say to me: “I will give you the light you need.

As you may or may not know, the word “glow-worm” or “glowworm”, depending on where in the world you are, encompasses a vast array of different creatures.
