Paying a maintenance fee for a patent application or a patent:
Each year a maintenance fee must be paid in order to maintain a patent application in effect or to maintain the rights accorded to a patent.
Indicate the patent application number or issued patent number for which a maintenance fee is being paid.
Information about the applicable maintenance fee payable can be obtained by consulting Schedule II, Tariff of Fees, Part VI, Maintenance Fees of the Patent Rules .
Each year a maintenance fee must be paid to keep a patent application or patent in good standing.
(3) No fee to maintain the rights accorded by a patent shall be payable in respect of any period for which a fee to maintain the application for that patent was paid.
(4) No fee to maintain the rights accorded by a reissued patent is payable

It is strongly recommended that the applicant complete the fee calculation sheet by entering the required data and amounts in the appropriate areas, and to include this sheet when submitting maintenance fee payments.
