7 – The Commission asserts that this figure is inaccurate and underestimates the area of limestone pavement that would be sacrificed.

If the road is constructed, 1.47 hectares of limestone pavement will be permanently lost – for certain.

If the road development proceeds, 1.47 hectares of limestone pavement will be permanently lost.

The extended site includes 270 hectares of limestone pavement, which is a priority natural habitat type listed in Annex I to the Directive.

12 The road scheme involves the permanent loss within the Lough Corrib SCI of approximately 1.47 hectares of that limestone pavement.
